EAST H.E.A.R.T. Yr 1 of 3 “Scarborough on Paper” Celebration & Exxhibition

EAST H.E.A.R.T. Year 4 explored the theme of ‘Scarborough on Paper’, a unique exploration curated by artist and community builder Jega Delisca and youth leader Rainee Nelson. In this program youth were immersed in the captivating world of papercraft, exploring artist development, insightful talks, studio visits, and the art of letter writing. They delved into meaningful discussions and activities aimed at enhancing their overall well-being and sexual health within a safe and supportive environment.

Led by EAST H.E.A.R.T. Peer Mentors, Leon Tsai and Maneesa Veeravel, youth participants celebrated their learning and incredible artwork with great food and company on Saturday, June 8th, 2024. The Makers Collective joined the event and led a fun zine-making session. Youth participants, Halcyon Zoubadi, Lavane Kelly, Wasifa Noshin, Michelle Tan Su Fong, Shyna Scott, and Cindy Long exhibited their work at Scarborough Museum. We ate delicious food from Hakka Legend, Vegan Thai Eatery, and Metro.

We want to show gratitude to everyone who has participated, contributed and supported this program over the years. Thank you to our partners Toronto Urban Health Fund, City of Toronto, YouthREX, FLOURISH Research Cluster (UTSC), and Scarborough Museum.
