Prepiphany

“Prepiphany” shows the moment just before an epiphany, the groping in the dark among all that has gone before, the knowledge that there must be ... something... there.
To create “Prepiphany”, I worked with 21 breakthrough-related images ranging from Archimedes’ “Eureka!” moment, though the sound barrier and the 4-minute mile, to the Kool-Aid(TM) man. Each image is included with a randomly-selected colour level applied to its grey-scale proIle. This results in vague intimations of the images available to view, reminiscent of a just out-of-reach idea.
Between the viewer and the idea is a dense yet barely visible web — the present barrier to the breakthrough.
Will you break through, or will the barrier hold?
