Youth Garden Program with Feed Scarborough

Through this program, Youth Leaders in the Scarborough Community are introduced to the world of community gardens. Together, we explore the basics of the hows and whys of community gardening, learning how to identify plants and soils and when and what to plant in our gardens. We further explore more complex issues such as the impact of colonization, industrialization and climate change on land, water and food sustainability, and how these issues intersect to affect our own lives and communities. The program concludes by bringing these ideas full circle and asking us to reflect on how our community garden plays a role in all this, and how our Youth Leaders can pave the way to a more sustainable future with their own Action Plans.

This project is in collaboration with Scarborough Arts, Feed Scarborough: Scarborough Food Security Initiative.
