Community + Connects - Summer 2023: BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATIONS

SIGN UP HERE

Botanical Illustrations is a six-week workshop dedicated to plant artists, and plant lovers. Join botanical artist Marjan Verstappen as she teaches you each step of her creative process for making botanical illustrations with watercolors, pencil, and pen. The goal of this course is for you to develop your observational drawing skills, but also to enjoy a greater awareness of the natural world by learning how to pay close attention to details in nature.

Learn to apply light and shadow to add extra volume to your illustrations. Discover new ways to identify the geometric shapes of different plants and flowers so they are easier to draw. Take a closer look at the different parts of a plant and determine the ones essential to your illustration. For each session, we will focus on a different range of artistic techniques to make beautiful illustrations. Botanical subjects will reference what is growing this summer in the garden, join us to get closer to these amazing plants.
