Dear Queer Scarbrough: EAST Zines Celebration + Launch
Dear Queer Scarborough is a celebration of Scarborough Art’s East Zines program. From January 2021 to June 2021, the program delivered weekly arts workshops, zine-making sessions, and sexual health workshops for 2SLGBTQIA youth based in Scarborough and the GTA.
Join Scarborough Arts for our East Zines Launch followed by a zine-making workshop on Wednesday June 30th from 4PM to 6PM. Access the event Zoom at https://bit.ly/eastzines
This event will feature Zine presentations by our artists, followed by panel Q+As, followed by a drop-in zine-making session to create your very own zine!
EAST Zines was facilitated by emerging queer Hatian-American Toronto-based painter Jega Delisca, alongside musician and poet Sky Ravinn Ffrench, and queer sexual health educator Kyana Graham. Themes such as queerness, gender, community, and home were explored through weekly art-making workshops ranging from paint, to illustration, to writing, in an inclusive virtual safe space.
In addition to free workshops, participants of EAST Zines were given art supply kits as well as printed copies of their zines to distribute amongst the community. Explore the zines in our virtual gallery.
