Dela M Raman

Writing

Writing

When I was five,
I wrote or I would fall behind.

When I was fifteen,
I wrote to loosen the nerves in my back.

When I became a mother,
I wrote to appease my aching past
and pave a new path.

Mothering

Mothering

The word, Mother,
feels like the softness of summer’s wind.

My mother leans in, many times
to whisper, I love you.

She reaffirms that I am
an excellent mother.

I,
trust my voice.
