Threads of Despair
My paintings range from women-centric paintings, abstracts to landscapes. I use women as my subjects in the majority of my paintings because it makes me feel more powerful and allows me to express myself more freely. In my paintings, I employ bright and bold colors. I work intuitively over each canvas, which allows me to produce surprising and tactful results.
Threads of Despair was intended to represent how women in most societies fight to break through in life in order to be their actual authentic selves and achieve their goals.
About Ahiniya Murugiah
I was born and raised in Sri Lanka, a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean. I pursued my Bachelors degree in India and am currently pursuing a Business Management course at Centennial College, Toronto. If it wasn't for creating art, I was a mischievous kid who wouldn't sit still for more than 5 minutes. Art and colors have always kept me alive since I was a child. Since 2019, I've been exploring with acrylic colors. In the future, I plan to use oil mediums and experiment with digital mediums as well.
