How long have you been a member of Scarborough Arts?
Literally, if not for a butterfly on 1859 Kingston Road, I wouldn’t have been a member of Scarborough Arts. The monarch butterfly wings brightly painted on the front door of the Bluffs Gallery was the invitation. I passed by it many times on my way to visit my grandchildren. And finally, in the early spring of this year, the curiosity got the best of me. I entered through the butterfly door, got soaked in the butterfly magic, let my imagination flow free . . . and signed … Read More »

How long have you been a member of Scarborough Arts?
I’ve been a member of SA for approximately four years.

What kind of art do you practice, and how long have you been practicing it?
As a multimedia artist, my art practice is three-pronged: visual/aural/literal.

Tell us about the piece we’re featuring today.
While immersed in the wilds of Scarborough, I heard a noise, a delicate voice, I looked up and found my branched muse…

How long have you been a member of Scarborough Arts?
I think 2011, just before the Big Art Book 2012; around September.

What kind of art do you practice, and how long have you been practicing it?
I write long prose poems and lyrical prose poems; I have written two short stories, but now it’s mainly poems with poem tract; not unlike graphic comics, but without the cartoons; kind of apocryphal with strains of false memory syndrome.

Tell us about the piece we’re featuring today.
The poem down the page has a quote from milky immortality, and it shows how adventures springs immortal in youthful understanding. And the pumpkin man is … Read More »

How long have you been a member of Scarborough Arts?

I became a member of Scarborough Arts about a year ago when I was painting a big mural at the Danforth and Warden underpass. The mural (designed by De Anne Lamirande) depicts a history of Scarborough. As a resident of Etobicoke, I had not been very familiar with a history of this part of Toronto. The mural helped me to do research to learn about the Bluffs, Elizabeth Simcoe, Bell Estate, and other important elements. Working almost every day for four months and interacting with local people helped … Read More »
