Scarborough Writers Association

SWA is a non-profit organization and a member of the Scarborough Arts Council.

Jack Goodlad Community Centre

We meet on Wednesday evenings 7:30-9:30 pm at the Jack Goodlad Community Centre on Kennedy Road.  One traffic light south of Lawrence Avenue East or two traffic lights north of Eglinton Avenue East – 929 Kennedy Rd. East Side.

We share literary information. We discuss and critique members’ writing in a friendly and relaxed open forum. All readings are done in English.  We recognize all forms of writing and try to offer objective or subjective critique that members can take or leave at their discretion.

If you feel you have something to say or write come and join us. We have published three anthologies of members’ work plus a collection of youthful writing from high school students around Scarborough. We participate at art shows and appreciate a small membership fee.

HERE’S WHAT WE DON’T DO: We do not teach basic writing skills and do not enroll children but we welcome young adult beginners; we do not have in-house duplication facility nor any commercial editing services.

If you write stories, short or long
Come and join us, and you’ll belong!
If you write poetry we need your verse
So come and join us and start to rehearse
