SA Suite of Programs 2018-19 — Call for Proposals

Are you an artist or an arts educator interested in bringing your artistic and cultural activities to Scarborough? Scarborough Arts is looking for engaging individuals to be part of our artist roster and plan and lead enriching arts workshops, talks, and events in Scarborough as part of our annual SA Suite of Programs 2018-19!

This is a PAID opportunity. Artist facilitators will receive artist and materials fees, professional development, marketing support, and free access to event/workshop space at Scarborough Arts’ Bluffs Gallery.

This year, we are especially interested in proposals that plan on offering a series of workshops that will allow participants to progressively build on their skills.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: September 23, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST.

Throughout the year, Scarborough Arts offers a collection of creative, innovative and accessible workshops and events series in various locations of Scarborough. At low-cost, these workshops are accessible to people of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages and encourages individuals, friends, and families to explore their creative side. Workshops cover various art disciplines, including but not limited to visual arts, new media, literary arts, music, dance, photography, performance, crafts, and participatory arts. These workshops are categorized into five streams: SA Creates, SA Moves, SA Writes, SA Talks, and SA Kids.

Scarborough Arts Creates (SA CREATES): We need artists that want to lead a paint night, or teach a class on a particular form of art-making (life drawing, oil painting, watercolour, portrait, pen and ink, etc). Get creative and tell us what kind of art practices you want to share with the community!

Scarborough Arts Moves (SA MOVES): Are you a yoga teacher, tai chi instructor, or dancer that can lead a session in the park? Are you an artist who works in landscapes and can facilitate creative walks exploring the magnificent urban and bucolic landscapes of Scarborough? Let us know how you can get our community moving.

Scarborough Arts Writes (SA WRITES): Are you a writer that can lead a session on memoir writing, poetic techniques, slam, or creative approaches to fiction? We want submissions from local area writers who can get our community writing down their stories.

Scarborough Arts Talks (SA TALKS): Do you want to organize a critique session, where artists working in a medium can come together and give advice and support on each other’s work? Maybe you want to engage the community through a panel discussion? If there is a community conversation that you think needs to happen, submit a proposal to get us talking.

Scarborough Arts Kids (SA KIDS): Are you an artist who is a pro at engaging kids in arts and crafts, storytelling, photography, theatre activities, and other art forms? Submit a proposal and get kids to open up their creative and imaginative side.
