Creative Facilitation Camp is a two-day professional development series ideal for artists, arts facilitators, and arts and culture workers looking to develop their creative facilitation skills.

Over the two days, participants will learn how to:

— Create safe and welcoming spaces for participants
— Build trust between the facilitator and the participants
— Allow and prompt creativity of participants
— Build confidence as a creative facilitator
— Develop creative ways to transform your arts & culture practices into engaging workshops and learning opportunities for others

The workshop’s curriculum is based on the Creative Community Model developed by Partners for Youth Empowerment (PYE) Global. PYE Global has worked with East End Arts and Scarborough Arts to provide a customized program that addresses the unique needs of the artists, facilitators and arts and culture workers engaging with community participants. This specialized curriculum empowers individuals through the arts and engages participants to create a transformative and collaborative learning space that is inclusive to all backgrounds.

The workshop will be facilitated by Nadia Chaney, International Director of Training at PYE Global. Nadia is a spoken word artist, curriculum writer and arts empowerment facilitator and trainer who has been working with the PYE model for over a decade. Since 2002, she has facilitated over 2,000 events, workshops and trainings on four continents, helping people use the arts for personal and social transformation. She specializes in anti-oppression, creative risk-taking, and participatory decision-making.

Creative Facilitation Camp is offered at a heavily subsidized rate of $50, which includes:

— Registration for both days (Saturday and Sunday)
— Light refreshments throughout both days (please bring a lunch, or you can purchase lunch at a nearby business during the lunch break)
— A printed workbook detailing all aspects discussed during the program, for future reference

Scarborough Arts and East End Arts believe that finances should not be a barrier to participation. Financial assistance is available. Learn more about how to apply for a Subsidy or Full Scholarship.
