February 7, 2018. Scarborough, Ontario—In spring 2019, Scarborough Arts will be launching Reel Scarborough, a pilot filmmaking program which turns its focus to Scarborough-based filmmakers, artists and collaborators. The program will seek to connect aspiring and emerging local filmmakers with industry-related training, mentorship and showcasing opportunities. We will be shining a spotlight on the people and stories that shape our diverse and multicultural communities.

Additionally, this summer, Scarborough Arts will host accessible public screenings in tandem with our programs and festivals. These events will be free, community-oriented screenings aimed at bringing people together to enjoy a cool evening of cinema during the hot summer months. Where possible, we will strive to show local Scarborough and GTA content, alongside other well-known titles.

Scarborough Arts is announcing that the 6th Annual Scarborough Worldwide Film Festival is operating independently of Scarborough Arts as of January 2018.

Reel Scarborough comes at a time when we will be focusing on strategic priorities, launching several new initiatives, as well as enhancing our existing programs. Stay tuned for our upcoming 2018-19 events, workshops and festivals, including communitybased events for both Cultural Hotspot and Nuit Blanche, as well as festivities for the whole family this summer in celebration of our 40th Anniversary!
