SA Suite of Programs — FALL 2016

Posted by scararts in Featured, Recent News. No Comments

30th August

This Fall 2016, Scarborough Arts is pleased to present our new suite of weekly arts workshops! After a city-wide call earlier this year that attracted emerging and professional artists and arts educators across the city, Scarborough Arts short-listed accessible workshops, events, and activities that are relevant and present an impact to the audiences of the Scarborough community.

Taking place weekly in or around the Bluffs Gallery on 1859 Kingston Road, these workshops cover different art disciplines including: visual art, literary art, theatre, music, dance, and participatory art. Workshops are categorized into five streams namely: SA Creates, SA Talks, SA Writes, SA Walks, and SA Moves. We invite everyone—artists or non-artists, audiences of all ages and skill levels—to explore their creative side and participate in these workshops.

Registration is now open for all workshops! For more information, contact Sasha Kovacs at programs@scarborougharts.com

Bluffs Gallery: ‘Lost and Found’ Exhibition and Sale

Posted by scararts in Featured, Recent News. No Comments

5th July

We are gearing up to animate the Bluffs Gallery with works that, over the course of many years, have been left behind or lost. Many artists who have exhibited at Scarborough Arts have left behind pieces that now sit in closets within our building on Kingston Road. We will exhibit these “lost” works during the week of July 25 and 29. Artists are welcome to drop by the Gallery during office hours to see if they have left their work behind. They can re-claim a piece they created if they bring some evidence that they are the original creator of the work. On the evening of Friday, July 29 from 6 to 8 PM, we will set up pieces that have not been claimed by the artists in our parking lot and invite the public and … Read More »

Legacies from the first two events are still evident in the colourful murals painted on the pillars supporting the bridge underneath, and on the long concrete walls along the walkway on top of the Lawrence Avenue East Bridge.

After taking a hiatus in 2015, the … Read More »
