The Scarborough Sign is a community-developed public art installation that showcases and brings together Scarborough’s many artistic communities and neighbourhoods.

The life-sized SCARBOROUGH sign travels to neighbourhoods across Scarborough. At each stop, The Scarborough Sign displays community arts projects by local artists, collectives, and residents. The Sign also engages audiences in multi-disciplinary arts events, accessible workshops, and site-specific arts activities.

The Scarborough Sign is back on the road from May to October 2019! The Sign will travel to six neighbourhoods and will be displayed at major cultural events in Scarborough.

In 2018, The Scarborough Sign traveled to five neighbourhoods in north and central Scarborough, offered eight public events, showcased the works of 45 local artists and collectives, and engaged 59 organizational partners as part of Cultural Hotspot 2018.

Every year, Scarborough Arts produces its Annual Juried Exhibition, a showcase of visual and media art created and curated in response to a themed call. Pieces, which can be in any medium, are selected for exhibition based upon a combination of artistic quality, technical execution, conceptual strength, originality, and impact. The jury, made up of gallery and community arts professionals, changes each year.

From 2015 to 2017, the BIG ART BOOK, a print and online anthology of visual arts and literature, was published as a companion to the Annual Juried Exhibition.
