Something BIG is coming your way this winter!
This year, Scarborough Arts is proud to produce our 30th Annual Juried Exhibition, our grandest exhibition of the year created and curated in response to a themed call. In celebration of this milestone, we are making our Annual Juried Exhibition even grander by combining it with the BIG ART BOOK, a print and online anthology of writing and visual arts in Scarborough. Get your artworks published in the BIG ART BOOK and possibly have it exhibited at the Papermill Gallery for the Annual Juried Exhibition!
The theme that artists will be responding to this year is En Route, an exploration of being in transition, in flux, in-between, and being on the move. Here are some questions to get your thinking started:
What does your journey look like?
What have been your milestones and markers?
Who or what causes you to transition or travel?
Who or what do you encounter when you are en route?
Absolutely everyone is welcome to submit to the Annual Juried Exhibition & BIG ART BOOK. Artists can submit up to three (3) artworks for consideration, which can be all visual arts, all literary arts, or a combination of both. Literary pieces and visual art pieces in any medium will be selected by a jury based on a combination of artistic quality, technical execution and/or conceptual strength, originality, and impact.
Deadline for submissions is Friday, October 30, 2015 at midnight. Late entries will not be considered. Please fill out the Application Form (download in PDF or in Word) completely, and carefully read the Conditions of Entry on the Application Form before submitting. Email all submissions to big [at] scarborougharts [dot] com.
En Route will be on view at the Papermill Gallery at Todmorden Mills from January 13 to 24, 2016, with an Opening Reception and Publication Launch on January 14, 2016.
For inquiries about the Annual Juried Exhibition + BIG ART BOOK, please contact Jen D. Fabico or Marianne Rellin at 416-698-7322.
