Watch and participate as award-winning multi-disciplinary artist, producer, and director Amani animates the Gallery with a series of theatrical and poetic vignettes from her one-woman performance piece, What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You, with exiting interactive elements.
Be inspired by professional musician and social activist Archie Alleyne and artist, TV personality, and The Known Unknown Founder Tika Simone – two music icons, both Toronto and internationally, as they engage in candid and insightful conversations about their careers as seasoned musicians and as champions of emerging youth talents.
Caribbean Flair Catering comes back to provide a great sampler of Caribbean cuisine.
Stand up, celebrate and the everyday Sheroe with the launch of our exhibit Unsung Sheroes, a thought provoking and emotional collection of works be Toronto and Scarborough- based artists showcasing a wide spectrum of Sheroeism and the invaluable, often under recognized and under-appreciated ways that women make the world go round.
Exhibiting artists include Afsaneh Shafai, Tara Dorey, Dania Ansari, Irit Epstein, Joylyn Chai, Luanne Maskell, Margaret Chown, Marilyn Walsh, Marnie White, Patricia Goudie, Patrice S-B, Samira El- Kassis, Virginia Tran.

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: Carole Staveley, Author of Not Lying Down: accomplish great things despite insurmountable challenges
Scarborough Arts welcomes author Carole Stavely to share and inspire with her personal wisdom and successes as illustrated in her book Not Lying Down, a motivational story about successfully navigating through chronic pain and significant challenges to accomplish great,sometimes unimaginable things. Catered buffet lunch provided by Caribbean Flair.
During this event, arts & crafts and snacks for school-aged children is available with advance registration.
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS: Peter Marczyk and Gail Wilson
Peter Marczyk, a Social Worker with the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, specializes in dementia-related issues, and community resources. Peter will introduce us to the world of dementia- related illnesses and the ways women are disproportionately affected as both caregivers and the recipients of care. He will also focus on hints and tips about the early warning signs of dementia, and local resources exist and how to accesses them. Gail Wilson is a social service professional who specializes in providing solution- focused workshops and life coaching with a strength- based approach. With a mix of humor, and fun Gail will share tips and tools on how to prioritize self-car, rethink barriers and create care networks. Participants will learn how to find/ make time, and how to take advantage of small opportunities when big opportunities are not practical. Refreshments provided.
During this event, arts & crafts and snacks for school-aged children is available with advance registration.

Scarborough Arts members will showcase visual arts pieces that illuminate the theme Bright Flight through colour, light, texture, and content. Exhibiting artists include: Craig Caucasian, Margaret Chown, Tiffany Dawe, Shirley Delang, Cheryl Duggan, Shakil Akram Khan, Lowell Lo, Leah Marcoux, Jane Orr Novotny, Rita-Anne Piquet, and Grazyna Grace Stryjek. Sheila Thadani, a long-time Scarborough Arts member, will also have a mini-exhibition of select works as our April Member of the Month.

All month long, The Bluffs Gallery will host a series of free events, including visual arts exhibitions, an opening reception and open mic night, a lunch and learn, and a paint night. We hope to see you at one or all of these events!

Celebrate with us as we welcome the month with an Opening Reception and Open Mic Night hosted by award-winning spoken word artist Patrick de Belen. We will put a spotlight on our exhibiting visual artists as well as on the variety of storytellers, and multi-generational performers who will grace the stage that evening, including classical singer Jonathan Lee; EAST Collective artists Seth Dyer and Jermain Jordan; and Scarborough Seniors Write literary artists Angelina Reyesand Joan Little. Refreshments will be served.

Learn from the best at a special Lunch and Learn with local marketing and communications guru, Sue Edworthy. Sue has worked in the not-for-profit performing arts in various capacities for over fifteen years. Drawing from her expertise and experience as a respected and sought-after arts marketing professional, Sue will speak about how artists can position and promote their individual art practice, brand, or creative service; how to price their artwork or service; and how to use social media and digital technology effectively. This workshop is open to visual, media and performing artists in any stage of their career. A catered buffet lunch will be provided by JC’s Grill House. Registration for this event is required.

Paint your heart out at Paint Night, an unpredictable evening of adventures in painting. We invite painters in oil, gouache, and watercolour of all skill levels to paint their own unique interpretation of the theme, Bright Flight. Special guests for the evening include our host,G5 Canadian Urban’s Jase Cozmic, who will also provide a groovy mix of funk tunes that will make the building vibrate with sound; and Artist Facilitator Andy Fabo who will facilitate the evening’s painting activities. Paint Night is sponsored by Steam Whistle Brewery and Konzelmann Estate Winery. This is a 19+ event. Refreshments will be served and there will be provision for some art materials. Registration for this event is required.

Scarborough Arts member David Brandy is one of the RAW: Natural Born Artists, hand selected by the international independent arts organization, in the one night event “Sensory”. “Sensory” will showcase independent creatives in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair & makeup, photography, models and performing art.
Tickets for the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door at the Mod Club (722 College St., Toronto). Event starts at 8:oo pm to 12:00 am.
