Camila Wong’s The Evolution of Self-Identity at the Bluffs Gallery @ The Bluffs Gallery
May 3 – Jun 28 all-day

The Evolution of Self-Identity presents art works created by Peruvian born artist, Camila Wong. Wong’s exhibit explores self-identity through the combination of themes relating to art therapy, everyday life, humour, reflection, environment and social issues. Wong’s works can be seen to depict her bold artistic style of applying heavy paint and using repetitive, expressive energetic lines and brushstrokes to create optical illusion, lively movement, harmony and unity.

The Evolution of Self-Identity was curated by María Alejandra Olórtegui Ibáñez.

SA Creates: Overcoming Language Barriers @ East Scarborough Storefront
May 10 @ 10:00 – 12:00

This workshop invites ESL learners who may be frustrated by language barriers to make a collage on the theme of “My Definition of Success” and talk about the meaning of their piece. The session’s goal is to bridge the non-verbal realm to inspire verbal expression, thus building the participants’ English fluency and morale.

No art background is required for participation in the workshop, which will involve gathering, arranging, and gluing down images and letters to a substrate. The facilitator, an experienced artist and ESL educator, will supply all necessary materials, including images, backings, glue, scissors, alphabet stickers, and other embellishments.
