Over the past several months, youth from three inner city schools participated in workshops for Modern Batik art – a unique style of artwork that originated in Indonesia and East Africa. The works produced by these youth showcase the complexity of this cultural artform, as well as the talent and creativity of local young people.
In celebration of Black History Month, a selection of the work produced by these youth will be on display at the Scarborough Civic Centre Rotunda from February 17^th to 28^th , 2009. An opening reception will take place on February 17th, from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Please join us in acknowledging the achievements of these young artists.
