Call For Entry: Art Needs
We need art, but what does art need? What can you as an artist bring to the art world? For the Scarborough Arts Council Annual Juried Art Exhibition 2009, SAC is asking artists to explore the theme of “Art Needs.†Does art need a new perspective? Off-beat colour combinations? Smaller or larger work? More abstraction or realism? Use your unique perspective as an artist and encourage viewers to consider a new way of thinking about art. Artists working in all media are invited to submit their work for Art Needs. The juror for Art Needs is Alexander Irving.
Awards for Art Needs include the Frank Faubert Memorial Award for Art – the City of Toronto Purchase Award and the D. L. Stevenson Ltd. Award for Art.
Please submit up to three images of work, a detailed image list, artist statement, CV, and self addressed stamped envelope to the Scarborough Arts Council.
Successful entries will be exhibited in the Hin-Shiu Hung Art Gallery at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto from March 19 – April 2, 2009. The entry fee is $35, or $30 for SAC members. All fees are non-refundable. For more information, contact Tim Whalley, Executive Director, at ed@scarborougharts.com, or call 416-698-7322.
